Promises, Promises!!

Posted on

How great is our God!!! My very awesome God is so faithful to His word that it behooves me to give Him the glory due His name. Every promise that God has made to me comes to pass at the appointed time and as I align myself with His word and ways.  I just stopped using my cane and my leg is all healed up as if there was never an injury! Years ago, God gave me Psalm 34:19-21  “… he protects all his (her) bones, not one of them will be broken.” A car accident, a car hit, five falls and innumerable mis-haps later He has been faithful. I once rolled from the 39th floor of a Madison Avenue high-rise to the 37th floor in a fall that was no fault of mine. Ironically, ‘the owners and powers that be’ were right there behind me and witnessed the fall. As my back bone finally hit the last stair, I heard the Lord whisper to me “you can walk away right now divinely healed and protected or get paid big time as you roll the wheel chair for the rest of your life.” I knew no human Orthopaedic could fix me the way God had me originally; so I got up and walked away, much to the dismay of the onlookers. I had their utmost respect and them at my every beck and call there after! A year later, though having the light and right of way; a car hit me on Fifth Avenue as I crossed the street. He was clearly at fault in broad daylight as a crowd of people gathered, gasped and a few yelled. In the split second of the ‘hit’, as I began to fall and suspended mid-air I heard the Lord’s voice which eventually broke my fall. Much to my shock and the amazement of the people observing that day, I never hit the ground regardless of the impact. I was able to walk away again! God kept that exact word to me, and I trust that he will keep it till the very end of my life or till Jesus comes to get His saints. PS: this is not to undermine the pain and suffering caused to anyone by accidents (I know I have had my fair share too); but to encourage anyone to hold on to God’s special word specially designed for them, picked or chosen for them, and spoken to them. (And on that note, I touch and agree with anyone in a situation similar to the aforementioned that there be a ‘shocking and speedy recovery’ In the name of JESUS, that will astound well wishers and enemies alike. There will always be ample opportunities for God’s word to try to test us, but that is to see if we will take God at His word or not. “By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, …” Hebrews 11:16-18  “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” Luke 1:44-46

“We can depend on God to fulfill His promise, even when all the roads leading to it are closed. ” M.H. “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Him through Christ the ‘Amen’. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

“My words …will come true at their proper time.” (Luke 1:20)

“What the Lord has said… will be accomplished.” (Luke 1:45)

“Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”
Joshua 21:44-45

“Praise be to the LORD, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.
1 Kings 8:55-57

“Now LORD, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me faithfully as you have done.’
1 Kings 8:24-26

Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them.
Psalm 119:139-141

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.
Psalm 145:12-14

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:19-21

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
2 Corinthians 7:1-3

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
2 Peter 1:3-5

One of my daily operational word is: “Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.” Psalm 31:20-22  A strong city it is indeed, and God’s favor keeps making a way and setting me way above the standard I would have set for myself.  Whenever I remind God of His word, it faithfully goes into action. Remember, ‘God honors His word above His name’. And then one of my favorites, if not my all time favorite; is of course in the book of Isaiah. A lot of people mouth of this promise as an ever ready Christian lingua. But it was put there to literally preserve life, if we would obey God and seek His ways. And avoid grappling with wickedness which renders the evil person ‘the weapon’ that has to be cursed; not to prosper.  “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 54:16-17 For someone who has had a great many weapons formed against her, and many unqualified and treacherous tongues wagging in judgement; Not one of those weapons caused permanent damage or lasting effect. In fact, they either returned to their sender or are en-route. And any residue of malice begins to and does eventually work for my good.  As for the wagging tongues, my one and only tongue cancelled the effects of a thousand babbling muscles by the Grace of the Almighty God that dwells in me. The promise was made to me, I received it, believed it and chose to live and walk on with it. I am still walking… (in Victory – Might I add).
