SPIRIT, souls and sKinful strategies…

Posted on

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”
John 4:22-24

I just read a blog from a fellow blogger and ‘blogger friend’ that sent the chills down my spine. It talked about a Methodist preacher who was raised in a Christian home, with a preacher for a father. The blog started at the point in her life, when she denounced Christ, forsook Christianity and declared herself an ‘Atheist‘. You may wonder like me how a preacher could suddenly become not just an unbeliever but a proudly professing atheist. The Holy Spirit immediately showed me the correlation (my ever-present teacher :)).

In the woman’s (the preacher) testimony, she stated that she had studied to prove certain scriptures. Not studying the word of God, so that the Holy Spirit can expound His knowledge to her, but studying with her mind to figure out and understand in her flesh the workings of the most magnificent phenomenon that humanity could ever experience the holy work of the Spirit of God. In imploring the mind and flesh to explain and present the work of the Spirit of God, she read herself into a reprobate mind, unrepentant-disbelief and eventually eternal damnation. Below is an excerpt of her own words, on a podium before hundreds or perhaps thousands of people:

“I’m an active pastor, and I’m also an atheist,” she says. “I live a double life. I feel pretty good on Monday, but by Thursday — when Sunday’s right around the corner — I start having stomach-aches, headaches, just knowing that I got to stand up and say things that I no longer believe in and portray myself in a way that’s totally false.”

God gave me a revelation last night that broke my heart. But then again my broken heart is of no use to a person with a hardened heart. How is it that people end up in a place called hell and what exactly is hell? And more importantly, how can a God who is love send people to hell? Well let me attempt to answer these questions or at least shed some light on these lines of thought. Despite the burning inferno that is hell, what makes it hopeless is not the heat and other destructive and/or torturous elements. What makes hell hopeless is that it is eternal separation from the only One who cared enough to forsake all momentarily, lay down His life to purchase hope and healing for a sin-filled, sin-sick world. You see for a person to end up in hell, they made a decision to spend eternity without God.  That decision could have been made by words, by deeds and definitely perpetual and/or UN-repentant wicked actions, and a self accepted lifestyle of sin.

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? “I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”” Jeremiah 17:9-10

Yes I know some may have mouthed off certain words in group prayer and sang hymns in church or even serve in ministry. But their heart was granite the whole time. With every carnal strategy, deceptive-dealings, fleshly programs and rejection of the grace of God is a step closer to a reprobate, violently stubborn and degenerate mind.  Know this without a doubt, GOD is love and always will be. He will still love the people who chose to go to hell. He just won’t override their wills. He gave it freely and He in faithfulness will not take it back. The separation they chose would have to be honored. Choose well today and I pray you choose life.

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live”
Deuteronomy 30:18-20
