THE BOOK COVER (More than meets the eye)

Posted on

Not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.
Titus 2:9-11

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:2-4

Shortly after spending a blessed time with some precious people, I noticed that each waking day unfolded; what attempted to look-like, talk-like, write-like and possibly act like me. They sought of had the hair style nailed, then they made a go at what they thought was my clothing style, some ventured to also practice my trade and exercise my talent and then I could swear in an affidavit that some were 3ft away from playing my God-given self and role. I was confused, listless, impaired and exhausted to say the least! However, my source of consolation at that time was the fact that the people who mattered knew how to decipher the real deal from the copy-cat specimen. A few close friends thought I should have been flattered, it was a form of unspoken compliment they argued candidly. Here is why I refuse to concur…

You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. 2 Corinthians 3:2-4

It is often said that: “you cannot judge a book by its cover.” The lovely trappings and eye-catching package or wrappings of the exterior can only go so far to vouch for the actual contents of the book. The content being the quality of ideas, thought and presentation, the calibre of endowment, knowledge and results bestowed (i.e. what the reader ends up with for having read the book). Oh but what a great book it would be for popping the eyes, enriching the mind, convicting the soul and blessing the heart. The components of a best seller might I add. We are books being written by GOD, a conglomerate of events, trials, tests, temptations and triumphs. Intricately and lovingly compiled, page after page, chapter upon chapter.

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little.”
Isaiah 28:9-11

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-3

Though the Author and Finisher of our lives be perfect and incorrigible, some chose unfortunately to douse their pages with smudged ink of rebellion and stubbornness. Thereby reaping a disturbing story of tattered proportions. While the rest in humility and submission, allowed an ongoing and increasingly enhanced master-piece to be their story. By emulating my outward appearance and intending to extract a certain kind of reaction from observers and onlookers alike, the role players wasted time and other-wise needed resources. However, a look at the inside content, creed and its output could have served better as a compass with lasting value.

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:6-8

The above scripture has often been used by some embittered folk, to batter people of certain look and stature. Whereas the real point of the verse is that God sees the heart first and does His work from the inside out. You see my story has been some time in the making. Every page bears my imprint, genome, testimony, laughter and most time tears. Like Rome I was not built-in a day, and unlike Rome I have not been around too long either. The book cover was designed with the subject matter and content in mind. It would be ridiculous to have the picture of a venomous snake on the cover of a book about the beauty of CHRIST and vice-versa. The outside is sustained and lit-up because of the content of the book and the unique story it tells. No overnight ambition and scheming could replicate ‘this epistle’. The Author says just as much.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Matthew 23:26-28

Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent,”  will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations. But it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come on them. Proverbs 24:24-25

Jehu the seer, the son of Hanani, went out to meet him and said to the king, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Because of this, the wrath of the LORD is on you. 2 Chronicles 19:1-3

Not too long ago, a powerful leader after years of pandering back and forth and literally dangling of the fence made a historical statement and acknowledgment. His statement went ahead to condone a certain lifestyle (that the bible warned against) and serve as a catalyst to the defiant promotion of anti-biblical values. In the typical ‘politically correct’ influenced way of living and speaking in these parts of the world, he gave his pallid reasons for his choice. The reasons for his choice were even sadder than the choice itself. Yet the bunch of us sat and swallowed the putrid pill as it were.

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. Romans 1:17-19

My cries of frustration however, did not fall on deaf ears. Some sympathetic folks consoled me, by assuring me that based on his needs and position, he did what he had to do. There goes that refrain once again. The only thing any human has to do is acknowledge the sovereignty of God Almighty. Out of that ‘do’ flows wisdom, peace, favor and anything else we need to live a productive, fruitful and peaceful life. It does not mean trials won’t come, it just means you won’t sink when they do. And just for restorative measures, you might emerge better of than when you went into the trial or when the trial came into you whichever way it occurred.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
James 1:11-13

I bet if you asked that poor deceived leader mentioned above if it was okay that any of ‘his’ went the way that he condoned, there is some percentage of a chance that he might knock you out. How do I know? His speech and expectations when the cameras are not rolling might betray him. But enough of this subject leader, we can only pray for him now. But here is the real reason of this blog. When he made that acceptance and agreement publicly, he released the spirit behind the lifestyle to legally operate on him and on anything concerning him.

Each one went straight ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they went. Ezekiel 1:11-13

Yes, the real world is the ‘spirit world’. Our tangible world, merely reacts to what has been released in the spirit. That is why demonic spirits possess people to carry out their wishes just like the Holy Spirit leads people to usher in and propel forward: God’s will. When one sees a lie and knowingly calls it truth, or tampers with justice as they jubilantly reward the wicked whilst they persecute (or so they think) the righteous. They are merely signing a legal and spiritual contract inviting whatever evil and wickedness they are in cahoots with to inundate their lives and expectations.

Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful… Revelation 21:26-27

Why do you think God went to such extent to purchase salvation and redemption for us? He could have easily just said “enter in with all your garbage I have the authority to forgive as a merciful God.” But He did not, because the ‘wages of sin is death’ and we had sinned ourselves into impending death sentences. Only a blood sacrifice of a spotless and blemish lacking lamb would suffice. Since killing a billion lambs on a daily basis was not plausible, he made the one time, all-time, all atoning sacrifice. Legally we were ‘toast’ considering what hell-fire would have done to our stubborn flesh. But God did the ‘Easter Parade’ all by Himself and today we have hope.

But the whole crowd shouted, “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!” Luke 23:17-19

So to those that would “Cut their noses to spite their face”, go ahead and stone Jesus as you request Barabbas be released. Remember that Barnabas never repented of his theft. He will be coming after his/her ardent supporters and their goodies. Don’t just take my word for it, ask The Authority…

He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Proverbs 28:12-14

It is not good to be partial to the wicked  and so deprive the innocent of justice. Proverbs 18:4-6

Prophetic Ponderings

A person’s own folly leads to their ruin, yet their heart rages against the LORD.
Proverbs 19:2-4

Folly is an unruly woman; she is simple and knows nothing.
Proverbs 9:12-14

For all the arguments and speech forum that humanity would hold, for all the banter that sails across airwaves, the word of GOD is the final authority and indeed the Bread of life. I often wondered along with a group of other people who feared the Lord, why it was easy for people to accept every jargon out there, happily house and habituate sin in their bosom and then argue till they were blue in the face about the truths of the Bible. The veterans in my ‘wonder group’ wisely declared that the conviction in the word of God spurs the flesh to react positively or negatively. The Word will not be ignored, there will be a move towards the faith that saves, heals and builds-up or a move towards foolish proliferation that leads to incurable hardness and damnation. Yes I used the word ‘DAMNATION’ and I was not scared to.

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
Revelation 19:10-12

You see the same God that clothe Himself in humanity (humility) and reached out  nail-scarred hands in mercy is the same God that will sit at His throne to judge that humanity. You cannot indulge in one and wrestle with the other. He came as a babe born in a manger, to lovingly and rigorously carry-out the mercy cloaked act of redemption. Next time around, He will be coming on a white horse, and I know for sure it will not be to debate how we heard the gospel and if it was presented in a ‘politically correct’ manner. He sure will not debate the accent or the origin of the message deliverer, neither will He clobber them for not turning on the air conditioner as they cried out about the agonies of hell.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:5-7

The past month has been the best of my life. I have seen God show-up, show-out and show-down. I have entered into an incredible rest of knowing that God is indeed a”‘Rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.” No act of love is hidden from His eyes just as no act of wickedness is. I have been so overwhelmed with His faithfulness and goodness, that demonic and fleshly jargon do not even move a hair on my head. God is holy and awesome and is to be revered. Think on these things; if He was a joker, why should I let His Spirit  work in me, while others carouse and demand the gospel be not offensive? I would join the fools and comfort my wayward flesh.

Every tear, pain, ridicule, rejection and what have you was worth the journey, because CHRIST was in it and allowed it. I am not half-way through, but from what I saw this past couple of weeks the sweetest part of life is living in Spirit and in Truth. The speech makers and buzz creators can keep at it, while I sit prettily with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I would love to lay prostrate on my face, but He bade me sit… SWEET!!!

You who turn justice to wormwood, And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!”
Amos 5:6-8

Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Matthew 13:42-44
