“… For God is love.” (1 John 4:8 KJV), “… God is Love”. (1 John 4:16 KJV)
The Eternal and Holy God is Love, and love is of Him (1 John 4:7). He cannot be separated from love because that is who He is even when we do not understand His ways. “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.” (Revelation 3:19 KJV) Likewise, we cannot be separated from God’s love. “Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ?” (Romans 8:35), “…Nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God.” (Romans 8:39 KJV) Every thing God has done for us and through us stems from His Love for us. “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us:..” (1 John 3:16)
“But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. (Romans 5:8 KJV) That Love drove Him to make the ultimate sacrifice of His dearly Beloved Son Jesus Christ who became the propitiation for our sins. “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). “In this was manifested the love of God towards us: because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him”. (1 john 4:9) “…Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood”. (Revelations 1:5)
God’s grand display of love at the ‘Cross of Calvary’ was to cultivate a relationship with us. He wanted to cleanse us and draw us close to His Holy nature. “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3 KJV)
Most times in our human frailties, we doubt the love of God for us as He unfailingly assures us. ” I have loved thee, saith the LORD…” (Malachi 1:2 KJV) “As the Father hath loved Me, so I have loved you:…”. (John 15:9 KJV) Even Jesus Himself assured us of the love of God. “For the Father Himself loveth you…” (John 16:27 KJV) The blessed assurance of God’s love gives us hope for another day. “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our heart by the Holy Ghost…” (Romans 5:5 KJV). And last but not the least, (the attributes and character of God are inexhaustible). the love of God is our protection and confidence in a conflict ridden world. “…In all these things we are more than conquerors; through him that loved us”. (Romans 8:37 KJV)
May the love that God has shown us, cause us to rise above sin and mediocrity in this present age!
